Church Health Assessment Tool (CHAT)

web resource
Accessed April 19, 2017.

The CHAT Church survey has been used by many different kinds of congregations. This includes mainline congregations. Many users are non-denominational or are from historically evangelical faith communities. This particular assessment tool is designed to be used during times of change, periods of new developments and when a congregation is beginning a strategic planning process. CHAT was developed after extensive research with over 2000 congregations and individuals. This research identified 10 traits of vital ministry (some of which are God-Exalting Worship, Wise Administration and Accountability, Networking with the Body of Christ). The tool will measure your congregation’s capacity related to these ten traits. This tool is offered by a group called Leadership Transformations led by Dr. Stephen Macchia. Dr. Macchia has served on the board of the National Association of Evangelicals.
