Edible Idaho: God in the Garden

Guy Hand. Audio. 5:38. Boise State Public Radio, May 3, 2010.

The Vineyard Church in Garden City, Idaho represents a growing number of Evangelical congregations who believe God calls all people of faith to care for the environment. Their journey to this conviction began when Pastor Tri Robinson discovered a strong biblical basis for creation care and preached a sermon series on the subject. “I got a standing ovation,” he said. “That’s never happened before.” The congregation went on to create its “Garden O’ Feedin”, a two-thirds acre plot run by congregational and community volunteers that grows nutritional food for its food-insecure members and neighbors. A transcript of the interview (with photos) and the audio file are available on the website. This brief presentation (under six minutes) is a simple, yet compelling introduction to the concept of congregational garden ministries. It would be of special interest to Evangelical audiences.
