“Do you have a project you wish to undertake or complete, but ministry responsibilities make it difficult to find the time?” The Louisville Institute (LI) may have just the help you need. LI’s mission is to “enrich the religious life of North American Christians” by providing grants to pastoral and academic leaders. These funds free leaders to pursue topics of interest to them and the larger community. For example, the Pastoral Study Project (PSP) supports clergy leaders with grants of up to $15,000 for individual projects. Two of the 2017 grantees focused on “Art in Worship for Reconciliation” and “Bringing African Americans to Orthodoxy”. Another Institute program, Collaborative Inquiry Team Grants, underwrites 3-year research projects conducted by clergy/academic teams. One such project explored congregational effectiveness in addressing poverty. Another examined the reception and impact of the Pope’s Laudati Si.
