Reducing household energy usage can save hundreds of dollars annually, but not knowing what to do or how to do it can stymy even the best-intentioned steward. This 12-step program helps individuals and houses of faith realize significant energy savings by suggesting simple, easy-to-implement actions, one month at a time. Each Task comes with how-to instructions and links to further help. The Toolkit is designed for use as an all-congregation initiative, with signed commitments, monthly presentations during worship, congregation-based teams that offer assistance to those who need it, and an ending celebration that notes and celebrates collective savings. A “Thirteenth Month” action guide addresses many additional areas ripe for energy savings, including transportation and food. Overall the project raises consciousness, reduces carbon footprints, saves money, and equips for further action. All material is available free of charge from the website.
