The Story of Stuff Project

In 2009, Annie Leonard produced a popular video about “the way we make, use and throw away the Stuff in our lives”. Since then, her Story of Stuff Project has added seven offerings on topics related to modern consumerism, its costs and its alternatives. These include bottled water, the food production chain, and planned obsolescence. Curricula tailored for Jewish and Christian teens guide them to consider the relationship among their consumption habits, their faith, and the health of the planet. The videos themselves are not faith-based per se but they are readily accessible and could be used to spark group discussion and action. The engaging illustrations and pithy presentation style are especially youth- and young adult-friendly. New topics are regularly introduced. All videos and study guides are free and downloadable from the website.
