By its very content, this free downloadable pamphlet promotes an educated laity with respect to congregational finances. The content includes fifteen questions for laity to answer. The questions assess an individual congregant’s knowledge and awareness of the status, process, policies, and practices with respect to the congregation’s finances. Each question is intended to lead to more questions that can be addressed to congregational leaders - whether clergy or laity. And ultimately, the questions are great “starting points” for longer and more in-depth conversations about stewardship, giving, and how a congregation manages, protects, and distributes its financial resources. A few of the topics covered by the questions include internal controls and congregational oversight of finances, the budget, and frequency of financial statements. Many religious traditions will find much to use in this brief and helpful Roman Catholic resource.
