The Center for Congregational Health’s Interim Ministry program asserts the transition time between pastorates is vital for congregations and new ministers establishing “a solid ministry team.” The Center offers a range of resources and services that either help congregations in transition or train clergy for interim ministry. Tools and articles for search committees include committee guidelines, a congregational survey on clergy leadership, the stages of the search process, and how some pastors experience the search process. The Center makes a distinction between a traditional interim and an intentional interim, and the educational program offers training in both categories. The traditional interim training is a prerequisite to the intentional interim ministry specialist training. The specialist training focuses on congregational heritage, mission, leadership, connections, and future.
