The Hospitality Audit is a free web resource designed by Chris Walker, Presbyterian pastor and church evangelism coach. The audit is a twenty-page downloadable survey to help congregations take a serious look at the many aspects of how a visitor or outsider might experience a congregation. While marketing and personal invitation may persuade a newcomer to visit, what they experience may determine whether or not they return. The survey includes virtually every aspect of church welcoming from the parking facilities to signage to greeters to what they experience in worship. It also takes a look at more discreet issues like cleaning and location of restrooms. First published in 2007, the audit has been used by thousands of congregations to help gauge the hospitality of a congregation and its facilities. The audit would be helpful to examine not only existing facilities and programs but also for those congregations considering remodeling, building new facilities, or designing new welcoming programs.
