A small investment with high yield-that’s what The Thin Book of SOAR boasts. In this small volume, authors Jacquie Stavros and Gina Hinrichs have pooled their extensive experience and organizational insight to explain, illustrate and equip organizations to soar beyond their current capacity. Utilizing Appreciative Inquiry and the SOAR planning template (Strengths, Opportunities, Aspirations and Results), this book can equip organizational leaders, including congregational leaders, with a way to build strategy from the basis of what they do well. Stavros and Hinrichs are both organizational consultants and teach organizational theory in graduate programs around the country. The case studies they offer are from their own experiences consulting a variety of organizations. Though this book is written from a business perspective, any clergy or congregational leader would find the approach quite effective in engaging a large and diverse number of people from their congregation in inspiring planning.
