What is program planning?

Program planning is a process by which an idea becomes a reality as a new project, activity or initiative. This involves identifying an idea worth pursuing, exploring possibilities, choosing a direction, incorporating resources, learning new skills, letting go of competing commitments, taking on operational tasks, and evaluating the results.

More about program planning

  • If implementing your project idea is beyond your current ability, your congregation will want to focus on learning. Read this blog on congregational learning.

  • Take time to clearly define the challenge or reason for the new program. Throughout the learning journey be willing to adjust those definitions as needed.

  • Any program or initiative worth doing will create disappointment somewhere along the road to implementation. Being aware of that reality builds resilience to help you overcome those setbacks.
