Searching for a broad overview of trends in American religion just got easier in this source, which explores what is and is not changing. The author’s intent is to discuss best documented trends in a short summary that is understandable to the general public. If the reader desires a more in-depth explanation, notes pointing to further sources are provided. Data for this overview was taken from General Social Survey and National Congregational Study, both conducted by the National Opinion Research Center at the University of Chicago. Pertinent statistics are included without overloading the reader. Individual chapters cover the following: Diversity, Belief, Involvement, Congregations, Leaders, Liberal Protestant Decline, and Polarization.
