Collaborative for Academic, Social, and Emotional Learning

Chicago, IL. (312) 226-3770.

The Collaborative for Academic, Social, and Emotional Learning (CASEL) promotes the establishment of social and emotional learning as an essential part of a child’s educational process. Social and emotional learning (SEL) programs provide instruction which enhances a child’s ability to recognize and manage emotions, empathize with others, establish and maintain positive relationships, make responsible pro-social decisions, and develop effective and ethical interpersonal skills. The web site provides: a list of core SEL competencies, research summaries, information on the key components of quality SEL programs, and bibliographies of relevant materials. Reading resources can be downloaded or ordered on-line. The site also provides access to information on SEL training and conferences. Congregations interested in creating or enhancing programs to develop SEL competencies among their children and youth will find this web site useful.
