Companions in Christ: The Way of Forgiveness (A Small-Group Experience in Spiritual Formation)

book
by Stephen Bryant, Janice Grana, and others. Upper Room Books, 2006.

'Companions in Christ' helps individuals grow deeper in the grace of God through the Christian community experience. The 28-week study includes daily individual scripture study and meditation coupled with weekly group reflection, exercises, and accountability. The group experience provides support and education for community spiritual development and practices—including study, prayer, and service.

The entire study is organized into five units: "Embracing the Journey: The Way of Christ"; "Feeding on the Word: The Mind of Christ"; "Deepening Our Prayer: The Heart of Christ"; "Responding to Our Call: The Work of Christ"; and "Exploring Spiritual Guidance: The Spirit of Christ." The Upper Room offers a "Church Pack" that includes ten participant books, two leader guides, and marketing material. Shorter studies are also available, including an eight-week study, entitled "Forgiveness," that focuses on Jesus’ Sermon on the Mount.

Group leaders can attend a one-day or three-day training orientation with registration available through the Web site (www.upperroom.org/companions/).

Many congregations have completed 'Companions in Christ' and witness to the powerful growth experienced with God and with each other.
