Ethnic Specific and Multicultural Ministries, the term used on the denominational website of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA), guides the user to a general category page as well as links to information on specific people groups. By providing consultations, programs, and resources, this ministry team assists the denomination, synods, congregations, agencies, and institutions in becoming more culturally diverse and anti-racist as they strive for full partnership and participation of people of African Descent (African American, African National, Afro Caribbean, Black), Asian and Pacific Islanders, and Latinos in the life of the ELCA. Based on a mission strategy unique to the needs of each group, which are available as downloadable resources, program directors work in partnership with their community’s ordained and lay leaders as well as their ethnic associations.
