This is the most thoughtful assembly of material, from an exceptional group of authors, about how to use academic and scholarly tools to understand congregations. Even more important the volume provides both attentive reflections on and practical tools for addressing some of the questions congregations most frequently ask such as clarifying or refining a mission and identity. Also addressed are ways to understand a congregation’s place in the larger community. This resource includes many practical tools like assessment instruments, surveys, and a parish profile inventory.
