The Family Handbook

(Herbert Anderson). Westminster John Knox Press, 1998.

This handbook presents Protestant, Catholic, Jewish, and secular perspectives on a number of issues facing families—marriage, the nature of the family, divorce and remarriage, and advances in reproductive technology—and describes approaches within those traditions to ministry in such special situations as single parents, stepfamilies, and families with homosexual sons or daughters. The book also contains excellent short essays on some of the basic biblical texts related to families, on families and worship, and on families in history. There is also an extensive resource section on organizations that serve or do advocacy with families.
