Yearbook of American & Canadian Churches

(Eileen W. Lindner). Abingdon Press, 2011.

The Yearbook provides current perspectives on contemporary religion in the U.S. and Canada, as well as directories, statistics, a calendar of holy days in 2001-2004, and indexes of organizations and individuals. This year’s "perspectives" section features an article on charitable choice. Written by Yearbook editor Eileen W. Lindner, the article describes the research and issues that have emerged in the years since welfare reform began. The Yearbook also included descriptive directories that cover cooperative religious organizations; national, regional, and local religious bodies; e-mail addresses and web sites; theological seminaries and colleges; religious periodicals; and historical records collections. The statistical section provides a set of U.S. and Canadian membership and financial statistics for many faith traditions. Congregational leaders, researchers, and others will find this desktop volume useful as a list of organizational contacts and a source of general and comparative information.
