This excellent hearing loop resource is a service of Hope College. Its purpose is to provide a public service to institutions, including congregations, with comprehensive information regarding hearing loops. Hearing Loops are “induction loop systems” which allow hard of hearing individuals who are equipped with hearing aids and cochlear implants to hear better, thanks to the installation of a wire technology in spaces where microphones and speakers are used to amplify sound. The site includes a FAQ section regarding hearing loop technology, government statements regarding the “Persons with Disabilities Act”, and a list of endorsements from those organizations supporting the installation of hearing loops. For congregations and leaders who would like to investigate further, the site contains a long list of places where hearing loops have been installed. And, for those seeking to install hearing loops, there is a comprehensive state-by-state list of vendors. Also included is an extensive list of published articles and other media information regarding induction loop systems. Visitors to the site will also find a contact information tab for those seeking additional help.
