The American Community Gardening Association (ACGA) is a go-to group for congregations who are interested in all things “green.” ACGA seeks to enhance communities through “food and ornamental gardening, urban forestry, preservation and management of open space, and integrated planning and management of developing urban and rural lands.” ACGA helps establish and nurture gardening networks and advises garden developers. ACGA sponsors regional and national events, such as the annual conference that offers workshops, lectures, and local garden site visits. Gardening and land-use resources are available for free and for sale. The e-newsletter and some articles are free, including one about schools and gardening. Memberships are available, and members can access additional resources and receive discounts on purchases. The website has a free “find your community garden” locator. ACGA seeks local leaders to serve on its committees, making this organization one in which different levels of involvement are available to any faith community.
