An initiative of the Pew Charitable Trusts, the FASTEN website resources congregations seeking to renew their urban communities. Congregations will find free tools to tackle urban challenges, often preparing them to work more effectively with public agencies and private foundations looking for faith-based organization partnership. Areas covered include Effective Organizations - how to apply for and receive a 501c3, build strong boards, develop funding plans, and recruit and train volunteers. Relationships - listing available government and/or private foundation resources and funding partners for a particular program or initiatives. Programs - free training toolkits, downloadable articles, online and audio courses on topics such as youth entrepreneurship, job training, mentoring, and financial literacy. Fundraising - training on grant writing, fundraising for particular projects, where to find grants. Congregations - leadership development, ideas into action, and community assessment tools. The news page lists new resource offerings and site updates. FASTEN’s home page offers a quick glance at new and popular resources, including an annotated new book section and related current links. The site is partially available in Spanish.
