The 2013 Congregational Economic Impact Study

Lake Institute on Faith & Giving, 2013. Accessed November 21, 2018.

The research that undergirds this report involved more than 3,000 congregational leaders from various religious traditions who responded to surveys about the impact of the recent economic downturn on congregational giving. The report offers giving trends and notes factors that influence congregational giving patterns. It also reveals how congregations are managing differences in giving and reviews fundraising and financial practices. Other topics include staffing issues, budgets, educational opportunities, and the use of technology to discern its impact on congregational giving. The research and report were supported by several organizations, including The Center for Congregations and The Alban Institute. Because a broad variety of congregational leaders responded to the survey, leaders from a variety of religious traditions, including Jewish synagogues, will find the results informative and illuminating. The report is free and downloadable. Readers can use the link noted above to complete a brief form that enables the report's receipt.
