The Baby Boomer generation (born from 1946 to 1964) has been a cultural juggernaut all their lives. Now that they are entering their 50’s and 60’s it should come as no surprise that they are rewriting what it means to grow old. While industry has spent untold resources preparing for their transition into older adulthood, congregations are comparably ill-prepared. Veteran senior adult minister, Amy Hanson, urges congregations to embrace reality. Based on nearly two decades of study and experience, Hanson explains how and why Boomers are reimagining life after 50 and what congregations need to do to effectively minister “with and through” them. Her assertions are illustrated with anecdotes and examples from congregational life. Although there is no formal study guide, Baby Boomers and Beyond could be read by staff and small groups as a conversation starter and guide to action.
