Emotional Intelligence and the Church

by Rupert Hayles. Bridge-Logos Publishers, 2012.

President and co-founder of The Center for Emotional and Spiritual Development, Rupert Hayles, teaches Emotional Intelligence as a tool for church growth and congregational development. Beginning with an application of Emotional Intelligence to the individual’s personal spiritual journey, Hayles transitions from a brief scientific explanation of the brain biology of emotions to how Emotional Intelligence is manifested in the Bible. Of particular interest are five chapters that are case studies of congregational and non-profit leaders, both clergy and lay, and how their emotional challenges and application of Emotional Intelligence to those challenges impacted their work and the organizations they serve. Written from a Protestant evangelical perspective, this resource will be most applicable to Christian clergy and lay leaders.
