This is a very practical resource from the United Church of Christ, designed to help congregational leaders develop and manage a congregational Planned Giving ministry. It includes key information for those who are in the early stages of considering this ministry, as well as those who want to improve and better organize an existing program. The complete document is about 115 pages, and it is downloadable by section from the denomination’s website. There are seven sections (Introduction, Congregational Planned Giving Ministry, Donors and Prospects, Endowments, Educational Models, Life Income Plans, and Resources). Also available is a 2-page table with key information and advantages about the most common planned giving instruments. Section II has guidelines for getting started, including forming a committee and a 3-year timetable of activities and tasks. While several denominations have planned giving resources, this is a comprehensive booklet with all of the key information in one place, readily adaptable to congregations of any tradition.
