This book isn’t about why to plant a church or how to expand to multiple sites. It’s a book about where to meet as a church when you plant, multiply and grow out of your space. Jim Tomberlin, founder of Multisite Solutions, has been a multi-site pastor since the 1990’s including a stint at Willow Creek Community Church where he led their multi-site expansion. Tim Cool is an author and consultant on buildings and space and has assisted more than 400 churches around the country in the planning, designing, and managing their facilities. Together they have written a compelling and practical book for pastors and leaders who are considering “where” to meet as a church. Chapters include topics about “what is the future of church buildings” to the “Big Box Church” and “A Sense of Place in a Rented Space.” The book also includes a helpful appendix with DIY assessment tools, “Rules of Thumb for a New Location” and “Multi-site Facility Search Guidelines,” and more. There’s likely not another book as thorough and timely as this one for clergy and laity involved in making decisions about their church locality.
